Thoughts on the episode? I loved every second of it. This was exactly the type of episode that I was waiting for.
Favorite Moment? Pretty much anything involving Kars. I love the character. But, I suppose I should pick a more specific scene. My favorite moment was when he glared at Joseph when he first saw him. Why? When Kars was first introduced, I genuinely thought he didn’t care a lot about Wammu and Esidisi. I thought they were just his lackeys and he thought nothing of them. This episode proved me wrong. He cares deeply about his fellow Pillar Men and Esidisi’s death hit him harder than I thought it ever would. I love villains that care like that about their friends/comrades. I should’ve seen it coming, though, because he seems to really care about any life that isn’t a human. He saved that puppy last episode and managed to not crush a flower when he fell off the cliff toward the end of this episode. I love his out-of-the-blue compassion. It’s a nice change of pace from Dio, who pretty much just wanted to see the whole world burn. They are villains on complete ends of the spectrum.
Anything you didn‘t like? Well, it doesn’t only apply to this episode, but I’m not really liking how little involved Caesar and Lisa Lisa are in the story. They almost feel like Speedwagon did in the first arc. They’re kind of just there. I mean, they were literally sitting in the room adjacent to where Stroheim and Joseph were at but it somehow took them like 10-15 minutes to realize something weird was going on? It took them that long just to walk outside. There was a huge hole blown up on the side of the building and they never thought about maybe investigating the sound? They could be such amazing characters if they had more screentime and focus, especially Caesar since he seems to be the only one that can guess what Joseph is planning (seriously, how did he get on Joseph’s wavelength with that ridiculously amazing icicle trick?!)
Any additional thoughts? Um, LOL at Stroheim revealing his German tools. His love for German science is the greatest thing ever. It always cracks me up.
Also, as I mentioned already, I’m really enjoying Kars’ character a lot, more so than I had guessed I would when he was first introduced. I sure hope he doesn’t disappoint, but at this point, I highly doubt that he will.
Onwards to the next!
