New Ideas Being Implemented Soon?

Hello, all!

So, this post will be a little different than normal. I’ve been brainstorming some ideas on what else to include and incorporate into my blog so that I have a bit more meat and variety as to what I post and discuss. I have a lot of fun writing the posts that I do, but I want to have a healthy mix of topics/ideas, and there are some I’ve been dying to try out. So, in this post, I’ll be very quickly discussing what new segments I’ll be introducing within the month of November and hoping to get your thoughts on them. Some may work out great and some not so much, so I would appreciate all of the feedback I can get when the time comes. I’m not expecting all of these to become permanent segments, but if they do, then cool! If not, that’s totally fine, too.

Character Spotlight: I will pick one to two characters a month whose birthday is that very month and will give a brief “profile” for them, including some fun facts, random information, and perhaps my favorite moment of theirs. This will serve as a way to make sure some characters get the love and/or recognition they deserve. Perhaps some people will get intrigued enough to check out their show/manga. Who knows! A majority, if not all, will also be characters that I personally liked/enjoyed, so this will just be my way of showcasing them.

Obsession/Rant Corner: This one I’m going back and forth with. I don’t know if it should be a place where I just discuss/show what I’m currently obsessed with OR if it should be a place for me to rant about anime/manga related topics OR both. If it’s the former, I’ll probably just include a lot of pictures/screenshots and say a few things here and there (i.e. If I’m temporarily obsessed with a character or show, expect a lot of pictures). I’m leaning more toward the obsession rather than the rant because I technically already use my reviews/commentary as a way to rant about things I’m watching/reading, so that option may be a bit repetitive…

Recommendation Room: This should be obvious. I’ll recommend one anime and one manga/manhwa a month. There will be a genre picked and I will choose an anime and a manga/manhwa that fall under that genre and essentially just recommend it to everybody. This is a two-way street, too, so if anyone wants to recommend anything for said genre, they are more than welcome to comment and help out.

Status: This might be kind of dumb, but I may have a section where I list what I’m currently watching/reading and then what I’m planning on checking out next, kind of as a way of letting everyone know what to expect soon.

I’m still very wishy-washy about the above segments, so I’m open to thoughts/opinions. I’m also open to implementing any others you think may work. After all, I would love for my posts to be as fun to read as they are to write them.

Should I change/get rid of any of the above? Are any a good idea? Let me hear your thoughts!

I’m a 26-year-old story-telling fan. I enjoy all forms of media, including anime, manga, literature, films, video games, music, and everything else in between. I’ve been writing short stories and novels for myself as a hobby for as long as I can remember. I’ve never considered myself good enough to become published, but I’m hoping to change that someday. I’m a huge sucker for characters, so that’s usually what will make or break a majority of stories for me. Other than that, I spend my days working and trying to pay my bills (how fun, right?).

  1. Sounds cool. I wrote a bunch of character posts about the cast of Highschool of the Dead a while back and have been meaning to do more. It was really interesting for me looking at the characters and their motivation.

It’s good to try new things and see what works. It’s all too easy to get sucked into writing episode reviews and then before you know it, that’s all you’re doing.

    • Oh, cool! Do you have a link to those, by any chance? I’d love to check them out, if you don’t mind.

But yes, that’s exactly why I want to get a variety because, as much fun as episode reviews are, that’s not all I want to do. I love talking, so having different topics to discuss will probably benefit my personality best.

      Thanks for reading!

      • Sure, no worries. Just bare in mind that they are almost a year old and I’ve changed the layout of my site since then. I am going back through these to tidy them up at the moment, but I doubt the text will change out than to correct the odd typo or change the flow.

This link will take you to the start of my Highschool of the Dead month and has the links to all the character posts on.

      • Oh, don’t worry about it. Even with the short amount of time I’ve been blogging, I’ve noticed the change in my writing, as well, so it’s just part of the writer’s experience.

Thank you for posting the link! I’m very excited to check these out. I’m curious to see how other people analyze characters I’ve at least seen before, so it’ll be a fun read. It’s been forever since I’ve seen/read anything on High School of the Dead, as well. Thanks again!

  2. These all sound great. I loved doing character studies but it was pretty tough to keep up the quality. I’m happy someone else is doing it

    • Thank you for your input! It is much apprecated. Hopefully I can do this justice and really dive into some of these characters and highlight their good and bad qualities. This’ll be a fun and interesting experiment.

  3. I think these are all great ideas! I especially like Character spotlight. I’ve always been a huge sucker for character studies though so that may just be my personal preferences coming into light. Reccommendation Room also sounds fun! You can never have too much reccommendations hehe.

    • Thank you so much for your input! It is always appreciated. I’m glad that you like these ideas. The more I think about them, the more excited I get to plan out what to do to start them off. I’m looking forward to seeing what they’ll evolve into eventually.
      Thanks, again!
